Pitchfork Music Festival Chicago 2014 Line-up Announced
There’s something so surreal about the 2014 Pitchfork Music Festival Chicago being announced right now. It’s hard to imagine on days like today, in weeks like this week, in months like this month, in Winters like this Winter, that there even is a Summer in Chicago. That expansive tracts of green grass can be cleared in a park, and under a warm sun, people will leave their domiciles to commune outdoors, drink too much, take pills, make out with strangers, and throw-up in a recycle bin. When we look out at the icy tundra that engulfs Wicker Park, and the thought of one of Chicago’s largest outdoor music festival going down a few blocks away goes through our fat heads, it simply seems impossible.
But it’s not.
Soon enough, the sun will shine, the snow will melt, flowers will bloom, birds will chirp, we’ll start wearing our bathing suits to work, and coming up with bogus excuses to cut out the weekend of July 18-20th and take the Ashland bus down to Union Park where all our favorite musical acts of past, and current, fame will strain to pretend a large Chicago public park with a set of makeshift stages and port-o-potties isn’t a terrible venue to perform live music. Our favorite musical acts of past, and current fame like: Kendrick Lamar; Neutral Milk Hotel; Beck; Grimes; Slowdive; Sun Kil Moon; Pusha T; and probably others.
And we know what you’re thinking: “if you guys are at the Pitchfork Music Festival, who’s gonna be running Holiday Jones?”
Duh. We’ll do what we do every time and hire a babysitter from Craigslist to watch the frontdesk. Book a room now and get ready to have Elisabeth check you into it.
